Use Case Description
In this use case, a platform was developed that helps sports coaches adjust training programs based on data. Using AI models, the platform estimates athletes’ fitness, fatigue, and lactate thresholds, enabling more personalized training and injury prevention. Traditional methods like lactate tests are intensive and provide only a snapshot. Brailsports offers a solution by delivering daily updates based on parameters such as power output and heart rate. Personalized models further refine insights into training impact, allowing coaches to optimize performance and recovery.
Results, Highlights & Research Outputs
Brailsports dashboard models and validation
With the support of the Flanders AI Research program, the AI models were developed that form the core of the current Brailsports dashboard, specifically the model for daily estimates of lactate thresholds and a personalized fitness-fatigue model. These models were validated through lab tests and tested in relevant environments, including a professional cycling team and individual cycling coaches. The feedback and results from these tests have helped to further refine the models and enhance their practical usability in real-world applications. Additionally, the technology was developed into two patent applications, which were submitted in 2024. In addition to the technical work, we also further developed the business foundations of Brailsports in 2024, with a strong focus on the strategy and positioning of the spin-off within the sports technology industry. With the successful spin-off of Brailsports as a company in October 2024.
