POD-QUERY
Schema Mapping and Query Rewriting system for personalized decentralized data storage pods

Description:
A query answering architecture and system was designed, called POD-QUERY, that allows to define different views over a data source for every requesting party. This way, the user can control exactly what the party can query. These views can hide data as well as transform into the right shape. As such, it can also easily deal with requesting parties expecting data according to a specific shape/schema, while the data is stored in another schema. In POD-QUERY schema alignment is specified by RDF-to-RDF mappings written in RML, and SPARQL queries are rewritten based on these mappings.

Addional Info:
The designed POD-QUERY system was evaluated on the "We Are" platform use case of VITO (https://we-are-health.be). In this use case citizens provide answers to health questionnaires and their answers are stored in their personal data vault using the GGDM vocabulary, together with their personal health record, that is provided by the hospital in the FHIR vocabulary. POD-QUERY is then used to query all the personal data vaults of the citizens, and only extracting the information that is pertinent to a particular regional research survey (RSS) (e.g. to study diabetes). Using POD-QUERY Citizens only share information that is pertinent to the RSS, but it automatically also gets converted to the correct schema of the RSS (in this case mapping FHIR info to RSS).
