Intelligent Spraying for Smart Farming (POSING)
This project combines vision AI with explainable AI to detect weeds and support targeted spraying, reducing unnecessary chemical use in crop production.
Vision AI is revolutionizing agriculture by providing precise crop management using advanced image recognition and analysis. This technology, involving high-resolution cameras, drones, and sensors, helps identify weeds in real-time. The combination with Explainable AI will incorporate the tacit knowledge of the farmer and provide textual explanations of the AI system. This allows for targeted, intelligent spraying, only applied where necessary, reducing environmental impact and optimizing resource use.

Vision AI
Vision AI is revolutionizing agriculture by providing precise crop management using advanced image recognition and analysis. This technology, involving high-resolution cameras, drones, and sensors, helps identify weeds in real-time. The combination with Explainable AI will incorporate the tacit knowledge of the farmer and provide textual explanations of the AI system. This allows for targeted, intelligent spraying, only applied where necessary, reducing environmental impact and optimizing resource use. The project, part of the Flemish AI research program (FAIR), aims to make these AI innovations practical and accessible to companies within six months. By enhancing productivity and sustainability, Vision and explainable AI support the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to responsible consumption and production. Collaborating with 2 industry leaders, the project also focuses on real-world applications, more specifically weed detection in onions. This initiative is poised to transform smart farming, making it more efficient and environmentally friendly.
