Hydration & Happiness: A rObot Water Butler to Improve Elderly Health (H2O)
This project develops a mobile robot that can navigate residential care environments and assist with hydration by handling bottles and pouring water.
The project has successfully developed and implemented a pilot mobile robot platform specifically designed for safe navigation in elderly homes. The robot's autonomous navigation capabilities have been tested in a residential care environment. Additionally, the project has delivered a functioning proof of concept for water handling tasks, demonstrating the robot's ability to detect and grasp filled water bottles and accurately pour water into empty glasses. These two core functionalities have been integrated into a single working system, establishing the fundamental technical framework for robotic assistance in elderly care facilities' hydration programs.
